Happy New Year to all our members.
We have had a busy couple of months since our last email. We have had several adult and junior members taking part in various cycling events such as North East Cyclo-Cross, National Cyclo-Cross Championship, Sportives and track events. The cyclo-cross season doesnt finish until next month so why not give it a go before the end of the season. We have dates of the last few rounds of the CXNE rounds on our website. The new summer circuit racing season kicks off on the 10th March with the first CDNW round at Southport for our junior members wanting to have a go at racing, it would be great to see lots of black and yellow jerseys out there. We now have membership to CDNW for our adult riders wanting to have a go at racing too. Dates to follow for the adult events from our Road Racing Secretary. Beacon Wheelers are also running club Time Trial events this year - more information is available regarding this from Jon Colborne, Time Time Secretary. Dates will be published on the website as soon as they are approved by CTT which should happen in the next week. The roller/turbo nights recommence on the 12th January and carry on into March. These have proved highly successful with up to 16 adults/juniors training on some nights. The sessions start at approx 7.15pm and last about an hour. Why not come down and see what we do or come down just for the crack, we have tea/coffee on offer too! The Saturday sessions at Salt Ayre Cluster have re-started at Lancaster. These are for any junior wanting to have a go at racing and to learn skills involved in this. The sessions are led by coaches from all the clubs within the cluster. They start at 10.30 am and last until approx 12.00pm - a great warm-up before the CDNW season. The sessions are run fortnightly on a Saturday before they change to a Wednesday evening when the lighter nights come in. The next session is Saturday 21st January. We had our first AGM at the end of November, and I would like to welcome Helen Ross, Jonathon Walkingshaw, Colin James, Steve Egglestone and Partrick Pennyfather (aka Patch) to the committee. On the website you will see a full list of our officers - should you need to contact any of them through our email address - beaconwheelers@yahoo.co.uk We are due to take delivery of our next batch of kit on Thursday 12th January, but if there is any item of kit you would like before the new season starts, please let me know by 24rd January and we will put in a new order which we would hope will arrive by late February. Just to remind you all - children's jerseys cost £20 and adult jerseys are £39.94. Other kit is available such as bib shorts, bib tights, thermal jackets, wind jackets, gloves, socks, overshoes and long sleeve jerseys to name but a few. We also have the hoodies, which are now available in different colours, these are £10 for children and £22 for adults. These prices include all the embroidery on the hoodies. I can order the hoodies anytime. As a final note to this email, I would like to remind you that your 2012 membership is now due for the 1 January to 31 December period. Membership forms can be downloaded here. The fee's remain at £5 for juniors and £10 for adult's. I look forward to receiving your re-newed membership and seeing you on an event, Sunday ride, grass track/Go-Ride nights or a training session. Regards, Lorraine Egglestone Secretary Comments are closed.
